Collecting These Times

Project Components

  • Strategy and outreach to subjects

  • Video-recorded interviews

  • Transcription editing

The Council of American Jewish Museums is working to record this chapter of history with 18 other Jewish museums as part of Collecting These Times: American Jewish Experiences of the Pandemic, a project supported by the Chronicling Funder Collaborative. CAJM is leading the work of collecting oral histories with Jewish museums; the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media at George Mason University has created a new web portal to gather and preserve born-digital materials collected during the pandemic.

IMW worked with CAJM to strategize on target VIP interviews, including industry leaders, elected officials, clergy, and medical professionals. IMW reached out and secured these interviews, wrote individualized questions and prompts for each subject, and recorded the interviews using the TheirStory platform.
