ABOUT

Ivy Weingram

Principal

Ivy Weingram is an independent curator based in Philadelphia, PA. She founded IMW Independent Museum Works in the summer of 2019. In the years since, she has worked with a diverse client base that includes museums, higher education institutions, a documentary film producer, and a pharmaceutical company. Content development and exhibition writing are her sweet spots.

For over 10 years Weingram served in the curatorial department of the National Museum of American Jewish History in Philadelphia (NMAJH), most recently as Curator.  At NMAJH she participated in the development of the Museum’s 25,000sf core exhibition, conducting object and image research, securing artifact loans, writing exhibition text, and developing content for media interactives and films. She then curated special exhibitions which have won wide acclaim, garnering reviews in the Associated PressTime, and Forbes.

Weingram’s grant narratives have secured major funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Pennsylvania Humanities Council, the PA Historical and Museum Commission, and private foundations. As an advocate for public funding for the arts, she has served as a peer reviewer for the Philadelphia Cultural Fund and lobbied on Capitol Hill on behalf of the National Humanities Alliance.

Weingram has served as a member of the Religious History Committee of American Association of State and Local History (AASLH) and the Board of the Council of American Jewish Museums (CAJM), and is a member of the American Alliance of Museums (AAM).  She was chosen to participate in the first CAJM International Fellowship (2015). In 2020 she was selected for the Tory Burch Foundation Embrace Ambition Summit, designed to empower women entrepreneurs.
